Christian friends rock! |
There's a saying, "Our friends can have a lot to do with whom we would become." This is a good reminder for us in choosing our pals. We should bear in mind that our friends can influence us in a positive or in a negative way. Or in a christian perspective, they can draw us closer to God or to the world. I'm not saying that we should avoid non-christian buddies and limit our circles only in the church. What I'm saying is that we should spend our time gaining and treasuring christian friends.
What are the benefits of having a christian friend? Why should we have one?
First, we have something in common - our faith.
Friends always have something in common: a favorite food, a hobby and even descriptions of their ideal mate. The good side of having christian peers is that we have someone to share about our faith. They can understand the struggles we have in overcoming temptations, join us in singing heavenly hymns,
and be with us as we worship God every Sunday. And in doing these things with them, ultimately, we glorify God.
Second, we can encourage and help one another.
If we read the book of Acts, we could notice something about the apostles/missionaries that traveled during that time, they always traveled in pairs. Why did they do that? Because if someone is discourage, the other would raise him up. If someone is losing his faith, his partner could strengthen him. Christian friends will be there for us if we lose hope and become discourage. Surely they will give us Godly counsel.
"The godly give good advice to their friends; the wicked lead them astray." Proverbs 12:26 [NLT]The more christian friends we have, the more we become closer to God and strengthen our faith. I hope you find your BCFs (Best Christian Friends)!
