Super Faith!

I've always been fascinated with superheroes. When I was a child, I had action figures of Batman, Superman, and Power Rangers and would spent the day playing with them. I even fantasized that I have extraordinary powers that I could save those that are troubled and need some help.

Eventually as we grow older, we realize that superheroes don't exist. There's no such thing as Wonderwoman or Spiderman. There isn't an ability such as super strength or super speed.

But, the Bible tells us that we could have a "super power":
"For truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you." Matthew 17:20b [NASB]
Literally, if we try to move a mountain just by talking to it, it won't move. Mountain here in this verse is used as a figure of speech. It means overcoming big and hard obstacles/problems in one's life. And Jesus was telling the apostles that they could overcome this by having faith the size of a mustard seed. It's remarkable to think that faith as small as a mustard seed could defeat obstacles in life the size of a mountain.

Jesus emphasized the power of faith. With a solid and dependent faith in Christ, we would be able to overcome tremendous problems in our lives. The more faith we have, the more things we could do. And because God is with us, it would be easier to help others as well. In the last part of the verse it says, nothing will be impossible to you!

Yes, we could be superheroes.
